Doshi Puli-E-Khumri Road Project

Completed the design and provide construction supervision services for the construction of Doshi-Puli-E-Khumri; 50 km Road Project in Baghlan Province, under the Ministry of Public Works (MPW), an IDB Project. Design of road includes preparation of bidding documents.

Hi-Tech prepared detailed design based on standards, norms, and instructions of IDB and according to the current AASHTO and Transportation Standards of Afghanistan. Hi-Tech prepared the following services:

  • Execute topographic survey in conformity with the design criteria.
  • Geological and Geo-Technical investigations of materials.
  • Detailed investigation at the site of major structures to verify the subsoil quality of foundations.
  • Socio economic study - Baseline study for Doshi-Puli-E-Khumri Project.
  • Inspect the current conditions of existing bridges and drainage structures.
  • Design the road pavement by using international method of current practice.
  • Design the major structures following the latest editions of AASHTO.
  • Design new bridges and upgrading of existing ones to ensure that their hydraulic capacity will allow the flow of 100-years return period storm discharge without surcharging;
  • Design the box culverts in accordance with sound engineering practice and particular attention paid to details of inlet and outlets to avoid scour problems. Their capacity calculated to carry the 50-years return period storm discharge without surcharging.
  • Examined the requirements for side drainage and minor culverts and identified the most economic type and method of construction. Particular attention was given to erosion and scour protection along drainage channels discharge into creeks/streams and at culvert inlets and outlets;
  • Inspect the conditions of existing retaining walls and slope protection works.
  • Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) of all works to be undertaken during construction.
  • Produced confidential estimate of construction cost for all relevant items of road work.

Hi-Tech as Consulting Engineers, provide construction supervision and construction management services for the project include the following:

  • Administer the construction contract documents and ensure that the project is constructed in accordance with the provision of contract documents, drawings and specifications and as per AASHTO and national standards adopted by MPW;
  • Construction supervision include detailed inspections, maintaining of a diary describing the progress of the work, specific problems and other pertinent information relative to the execution of the contract, on-site testing of materials, field measurements, progress reports, computing the monthly estimate for payment to the contractor; reviewing and logging inspectors' daily reports; analyzing and performing independent cost estimates for extra work; field inspection of change order requests.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental guidelines; and update resettlement plan and monitor implementation of the plan.

Andkhoy-Aquina Road Project

Completed the design and provide construction supervision services for the construction of Andkhoy-Aquina; 34 km Road Project in Faryab Province, under the Ministry of Public Works (MPW), an IDB Project. Aquina is located at the boarder of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Design of road includes design of toll plaza and preparation of bidding documents.
